I Knelt To Pray, by Marie MacIntyre

I knelt in church,
And prayed to my God above,
To guide me and sustain me,
In his own precious love.

While praying, I felt the presence,
And thanked my God that He,
Did care enough to listen,
To insignificant me.

I prayed that my deeds,
Would show the measure of my love,
And each would be acceptable,
And lead me to God above.

I prayed so hard I cried,
For I needed to feel His touch.
Then I saw Him standing,
This One I love so much.

He held His arms out to me,
And in thought I heard Him say,
"My child, with you I am pleased,
And I hear you when you pray."
